An 85-year-old man who disappeared from Harrietville on Sunday has been found alive. Jacobus Bakkum departed from the Harrietville Hotel for a short drive home. He never reached his destination. Emergency teams launched a search when he failed to finish his trip.
Rescuers located Bakkum alive at a crash site near Mitta Mitta. That location is about 100 kilometres away from Harrietville. It was a significant distance away. After finding him, paramedics transported the elderly man to hospital for an evaluation. He is under care now.
