Nine crew members from China have been arrested for illegal fishing in waters near Yeonpyeong Island.

Coast guard officers received formal recognition for their work. They had chased off illegal Chinese crab boats in the area.

On a separate matter, a prawn fisher from West Vancouver was fined $5,000. The fine was issued because he dropped traps near glass sponge reefs.

Officials have announced there will be no fishing for coho salmon in Lake Washington. This ban covers anglers in that lake.

The Wuchang fish industry is casting a wider net too.
