Equinor has warned that the United Kingdom risks becoming "uninvestable" if North Sea projects Jackdaw and Rosebank are blocked. The Norwegian energy company's chief executive raised doubts about whether future investment in the UK could continue if drilling approvals are denied, drawing attention from the BBC, The Times, and the Financial Times.
The warning intensifies scrutiny of UK energy policy at a time when the government is deciding on the future of North Sea development. Blocking the two projects, Equinor suggested, would raise serious questions about the country's willingness to support large-scale energy investment.
Separately, Equinor released a quarterly update on 7 October 2026 saying its trading profit will come in above expectations for the third quarter. Reuters reported the update ahead of the company's upcoming results announcement.
