Famed creator Yayoi Kusama has passed away. She held her paintbrushes until right before she passed away. She experienced hallucinations as a young child. Kusama transformed those youthful visions into famous art. Polka dots became her main motif. They were featured in her many paintings and sculptures.

Kusama received the Praemium Imperiale award for her achievements in art. Her work was widely celebrated. One creation, the Red Pumpkin artwork, became a symbol of Naoshima island. She kept working until her death. She made art rooted in her early childhood experiences and her signature polka dots.
