Cristiano Ronaldo netted his 980th career goal on Oct. 9, 2026, turning out for Al Nassr against Al Diriyah in the Saudi Pro League. The historic finish came as a major milestone for the Portuguese forward.

It was his first club appearance back after recent issues with Portugal's national team setup. The result for Al Nassr gave the club a much-needed lift heading further into the season.

Al Nassr's squad on the night also included multiple Gulf Cup champions for the Diriyah derby. The quality across the pitch has made Al Nassr a consistent force in the Saudi Pro League this season.

The goal moves him nearer to whatever record he is chasing in the Saudi Pro League. At this stretch of his time in Saudi football, each strike added to the count keeps the spotlight on him around how far he can go.
